Hammond Man Sentenced for Firearm Possession
Leroy Robinson, 39, of Hammond, Indiana, has been sentenced to 70 months imprisonment for being a felon in possession of a firearm, authorities announced.
According to Acting United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson, Robinson was sentenced before Judge Rudy Lozano for possessing two firearms, one of which had an obliterated serial number, on July 28, 2016. This was after being convicted in an Armed Robbery Case in Cook County, Illinois.
The investigation into Robinson’s case was a result of a joint effort between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Hammond Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Thomas M. McGrath handled the case.
Robinson’s sentence includes 70 months imprisonment and 1 year supervised release.
The case against Robinson highlights the dangers of firearm possession by felons and the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to prevent such crimes. As Acting United States Attorney Clifford D.
