Life Behind Bars for Fort Worth Sex Trafficker
Fort Worth, TX – A Fort Worth man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in a sex trafficking ring that preyed on underage girls. Demarcus Davis, 26, also known as ‘Zigg,’ was found guilty in 2018 of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of underage girls.
According to evidence presented at trial, Davis and his co-conspirators, Herman Sanders and Pierre Lagrone, used violence and intimidation to recruit, control, and profit from the commercial sex acts of underage female victims. The defendants advertised the victims for commercial sex acts, communicated with potential clients, collected proceeds, and paid for motel rooms and supplies.
The victims were provided with little more than food, shelter, and occasional clothing, while the defendants kept almost all of the proceeds from the commercial sex acts. Sanders was also found to have conspired with and assisted Lagrone in this sex trafficking operation.
Two of Davis’ co-defendants, Lagrone and Sanders, were previously sentenced to life in federal prison and 420 months, respectively. Another co-defendant, Bruce Davis, was sentenced to 64 months in federal prison for obstruction of justice after threatening a victim and her family.
The case was investigated by the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE), and the Fort Worth, Tyler, and Arlington Police Departments. Assistant U.S. Attorneys P.J. Meitl and Nicole Dana were in charge of the prosecution.
U.S. Attorney Erin Nealy Cox announced the sentencing, stating that Davis’ sentence serves as a reminder that sex traffickers will be held accountable for their crimes. The victims in this case suffered unimaginable harm, and it is our hope that this sentence brings them some measure of justice.
Demarcus Davis’ life sentence is a stark reminder of the severe consequences of sex trafficking. As a community, we must work together to prevent these crimes and support the victims who have been affected by them.
The sentencing of Demarcus Davis is a significant victory for justice in the Northern District of Texas. We will continue to work tirelessly to bring sex traffickers to justice and protect the vulnerable populations who are most at risk.
