Linda Vannatter, Oxycodone Conspiracy, West Virginia 2016
DARK ALLEY OF THE SOUL
A shocking tale of deception and betrayal has unfolded in the small town of Logan County, West Virginia. Two members of an Indiana family, Linda Vannatter and Steven Jurick, have been sentenced to federal prison for their involvement in a brazen oxycodone conspiracy.
According to sources, Vannatter, 74, of Hammond, Indiana, was sentenced to three years and one month in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute oxycodone. Her son-in-law, Steven Jurick, 57, of Valparaiso, Indiana, received a two and a half year sentence for the same offense.
The investigation, led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, revealed that Vannatter and Jurick conspired with each other from January 2016 until April 13, 2016, to provide oxycodone to an individual who distributed the pain pills in Logan County. The individual, acting as a confidential informant, made repeated contact with Vannatter and Jurick in Indiana, resulting in the sale of 231 thirty milligram and 17 twenty milligram oxycodone pills on March 15, 2016.
On April 13, 2016, Jurick sold 150 thirty milligram oxycodone pills to the same individual. Both transactions occurred in Indiana, further highlighting the scope of the conspiracy. United States District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin imposed the sentences, bringing a sense of justice to the community.
The case is part of an ongoing effort by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs and heroin. This commitment to justice is a beacon of hope for the people of Logan County and beyond.
As the Grimy Times continues to expose the dark underbelly of our society, we remain vigilant in our pursuit of truth and justice. The people have a right to know, and we will not rest until the truth is revealed.
