Lisa Belawske, Misappropriation of Postal Funds, Pennsylvania 2017

A Canton woman has been sentenced to prison for misappropriating over $12,000 in postal funds while employed at the Sylvania Post Office. Lisa Belawske, age 53, was sentenced on June 6, 2017, to a four-month prison term for misappropriation of postal funds by a postal employee.

Belawske pleaded guilty to a criminal information on February 15, 2017. The misappropriation occurred between October 2015 and June 2016, during which time she took over $12,000 in money orders and cash.

According to United States Attorney Bruce D. Brandler, Belawske acknowledged that she misappropriated the funds while employed at the Sylvania Post Office. In addition to the term of incarceration, Judge Matthew Brann ordered Belawske to pay full restitution.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Service, Office of the Inspector General, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean A. Camoni.
