Counterfeit Credit Card Ring Busted in Missouri
A St. Louis jury has delivered a guilty verdict in the case of Lisa D. Paige, a Virginia woman accused of using counterfeit credit cards to buy cigarettes in Missouri.
According to prosecutors, Paige was part of a credit card skimming operation that traveled from Baltimore, Maryland, to Missouri. The group used the counterfeit cards to purchase cigarettes, with one card belonging to a Michigan resident being used in Perryville, Missouri.
The investigation, led by the Perryville, Missouri, Police Department and the United States Secret Service, uncovered a scheme to use counterfeit credit cards to buy cigarettes. Paige was found guilty of one felony count of Using a Counterfeit Device (Count I) and one felony count of Possession of 15 or More Counterfeit Access Devices (Count II).
The trial was held at the United States Courthouse in Cape Girardeau in front of District Judge Carol E. Jackson. Assistant United States Attorney H. Morley Swingle handled the prosecution for the Government.
The sentencing date for Lisa D. Paige has not yet been determined. Paige’s involvement in the credit card skimming operation has been revealed, but the full extent of her role and potential accomplices remains unclear.
