Local Man Sentenced 60 Months for Methamphetamine Charge
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A Harrison County man has been sentenced to 60 months incarceration for methamphetamine distribution, announced United States Attorney Bill Powell.
Jacob Renard White, 30, of Clarksburg, West Virginia, pled guilty to one count of "Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute and Distribute Methamphetamine" in July 2018. White admitted to distributing methamphetamine in February of 2017 in Harrison County.
According to the evidence presented, White’s actions had a significant impact on the community, perpetuating the cycle of addiction and violence that plagues our neighborhoods. The Greater Harrison Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated the case, working tirelessly to bring White to justice.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew R. Cogar prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, ensuring that White faced the full weight of the law for his crimes.
In handing down the sentence, Senior U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley made it clear that such crimes will not be tolerated in our community. The judge’s decision serves as a stark reminder that those who engage in methamphetamine distribution will be held accountable for their actions.
The sentence of 60 months incarceration is a significant one, and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the investigators and prosecutors involved in this case. As a community, we must continue to work together to combat the scourge of methamphetamine and other illicit substances. By doing so, we can create a safer, healthier environment for all residents of West Virginia.
White’s sentence serves as a warning to those who would engage in similar crimes: the consequences are severe, and the risks are not worth it.
