Local Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Meth Distribution Ring

A 30-year-old man from South Carolina has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for his role in leading a multi-state methamphetamine trafficking organization. Joshua Peace, 30, was one of four individuals sentenced in federal court in connection with the crime.

According to court documents, Peace, along with his mother Susan Peace, 63, and two other co-conspirators, Brian Harper, 34, and Regina Kinard, 42, pled guilty to participating in a drug conspiracy involving more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.

Peace, Kinard, and Harper each received significant prison sentences of 15 years, 12 years, and 11 years, respectively, for their roles in the conspiracy. Susan Peace, on the other hand, pled guilty to using a telephone to facilitate a drug trafficking crime and received a sentence of 5 years’ probation with electronic monitoring and a curfew.

Assistant United States Attorney Andy Moorman told the court that Peace, with the help of his mother and others, facilitated the distribution of approximately $1.2 million in methamphetamine in the Upstate of South Carolina and elsewhere. Peace would send couriers to meet with sources of supply for methamphetamine in Northern Georgia, who would purchase kilogram quantities of methamphetamine and return to the Upstate of South Carolina.

Once in South Carolina, the methamphetamine would be dispersed among local distributors, who would sell the methamphetamine and return the proceeds to Peace. The investigation and prosecution of the case resulted in the seizure of over $600,000 in U.S. Currency, seven automobiles, and other property that the conspirators bought with drug proceeds.

The Drug Enforcement Administration, the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, the Anderson Police Department, and the Franklin County (GA) Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.

The sentencing of the individuals involved in the multi-state methamphetamine trafficking organization marks a significant victory for law enforcement in the fight against drug trafficking in the region.
