NEW ALBANY – Christopher Hill, 35, of Louisville, Kentucky, is facing a fate more severe than the drugs he trafficked. The gritty federal crime news site, Grimy Times, reports that Hill has been sentenced to 188 months in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine.
Hill was convicted on all charges at the conclusion of a two-day jury trial. Court documents and evidence introduced during the trial paint a picture of a dealer with two outstanding warrants from Louisville: one for being a felon in possession of a firearm, and another for crimes of violence involving drug trafficking.
On November 5, 2020, Jeffersonville Police (JPD) Officers stopped Hill for a suspected traffic violation. What they found was over 101.6 grams of methamphetamine, multiple cellular devices, marijuana, and $5,000 in cash. Hill’s arrest revealed a sophisticated operation utilizing social media to advertise his illegal wares and arrange drug transactions.
“Drug dealers must be held accountable for the harm that their methamphetamine does to people and families impacted by substance use disorders,” stated Zachary A. Myers, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. “The sentence imposed here reflects the seriousness of these crimes and the need to protect the community.”
The FBI led the investigation with support from the Jeffersonville Police Department. U.S. District Court Judge Chief Tanya Walton Pratt, who imposed the sentence, also ordered Hill to be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for 5 years after his release.
Assistant United States Attorneys William L. McCoskey and Jeremy C. Fugate handled the prosecution of this case. This operation is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a collaborative effort between law enforcement and communities to reduce violent crime and gun violence, ensuring safer neighborhoods for all.
