GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Two men from Lubbock, Texas have been handed down hefty federal prison sentences after attempting to entice minors online. Dustin Mathew Buckaloo, 29, and Patrick Wong, 36, pleaded guilty in September 2016 to one count of attempted enticement of a minor each.
Buckaloo was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings to 162 months, while Wong received 120 months for his crimes. Both men used Facebook messaging to communicate with what they believed to be 14-year-old girls, in reality undercover officers.
Documents revealed that Buckaloo, between July 9 and July 23, 2016, attempted to persuade the underage girl to engage in sexual activity. He was arrested when he arrived at the arranged meeting point on July 23, 2016. Wong’s case spanned from June 26, 2016, through August 9, 2016, with similar communications and intentions.
These sentences are part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI investigated both cases, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven M. Sucsy leading the prosecutions.
