Guatemalan national, Lucas Lucas-De Lucas, 36, has been sentenced to 60 months in prison for illegal reentry of a previously deported alien, announced U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona.
According to court documents, Lucas De Lucas has two prior felony convictions for illegal reentry. He was first removed from the United States in May 2012. He was removed again in December 2019, February 2021, and April 2023.
Prior to his latest sentencing, Lucas De Lucas had been removed from the country multiple times. Despite these efforts, he continued to reenter the United States, violating federal law.
U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona stated that cases like Lucas De Lucas’ are a result of the Department of Justice’s efforts to protect the nation’s borders and prevent the influx of illegal immigrants.
Homeland Security Investigations and the Albertville Police Department collaborated to investigate the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Sara M. Judah prosecuting the case.
Lucas Lucas-De Lucas’ case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that aims to repel the invasion of illegal immigration and protect communities from violent crime.
Lucas De Lucas’ sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Liles C. Burke.
