Luis Antonio Beltran Arredondo, Drug Trafficking, Oregon 2022

PORTLAND, Ore.—

Luis Antonio Beltran Arredondo, a 35-year-old Mexican national, has pleaded guilty to leading an Oregon-based drug trafficking organization and money laundering conspiracy.

Arredondo, who resides in North Las Vegas, Nevada, is accused of distributing large quantities of heroin and fentanyl in the Portland metro area. Between October 2021 and January 2022, investigators seized over 52 pounds of heroin, over 7 pounds of fentanyl pills, and nearly six pounds of methamphetamine from individuals, vehicles, and locations connected to Arredondo’s organization.

Arredondo also conspired to launder $4.63 million by running drug trafficking proceeds through a Tualatin, Oregon-based beauty salon. The money was then used to buy nine properties, which were converted into income-generating rentals. These properties have been forfeited to the United States and are in the process of being sold.

Arredondo faces a maximum sentence of life in prison, a $10 million fine, and 5 years of supervised release. He will be sentenced on August 18, 2025, before U.S. District Court Judge Michael Simon.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) with assistance from the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), IRS-Criminal Investigation (IRS:CI), Tigard Police Department, and the Oregon State Police. It is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.

The case was investigated under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), which identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level criminal organizations threatening the United States using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach.
