Bronx Man Charged with Selling Deadly Mix of Xanax, Heroin, and Fentanyl that Killed 20-Year-Old Woman
A 26-year-old Bronx man, Luis Lee, was arrested and charged with narcotics distribution resulting in death after selling a lethal combination of Xanax, heroin, and fentanyl that caused the death of 20-year-old Pathjrie Roman on September 18, 2020.
According to the indictment, Lee met Roman outside her apartment in the Bronx and delivered the Xanax and heroin, which was mixed with fentanyl. Roman died the next day, September 19, 2020, after an autopsy determined that she died of acute intoxication from the combined effects of fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl, heroin, and alprazolam (generic Xanax).
The NYPD and U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York are working together to combat the epidemic of lethal opioids. The NYPD Commissioner, Dermot Shea, commended the detectives and attorneys for their hard work in securing the arrest.
Luis Lee is charged with narcotics distribution resulting in death, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life in prison. Lee’s Instagram account, which he used to communicate with Roman, was deleted within 24 hours of her death.
The case is being handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York’s Narcotics Unit, with Assistant United States Attorney Alexander Li leading the prosecution. Lee will be presented before United States Magistrate Judge James L. Cott this afternoon.
The charge against Lee is merely an accusation, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
