Raleigh, NC – In a shocking turn of events, Lukim Lamont Pittman, a 36-year-old man from Chadbourn, North Carolina, was sentenced to 81 months in prison for his involvement in a narcotics investigation.

According to court documents and other information presented in court, the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office conducted a three-month narcotics investigation involving Pittman. In May and July 2019, officers purchased narcotics from Pittman. Then in August 2019, the Sheriff’s Office purchased a quantity of cocaine and a Glock, model 17, 9mm firearm from Pittman.

Pittman had previously been convicted of felony offenses that involved firearms, making him a prohibited possessor of firearms under federal law.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Charity Wilson prosecuting the case.

On June 23, 2021, Pittman pled guilty to the charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Possessing a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime.

Acting U.S. Attorney G. Norman Acker, III, made the announcement after the sentencing by U.S. District Judge James C. Dever III.
