The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime by bringing together law enforcement and the communities they serve. The PSN program has been reinvigorated by the United States government since 2017, targeting violent criminals and directing all U.S. Attorney’s Offices to work with federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement to develop effective strategies to reduce violent crime.
As part of this effort, the Take Back North Carolina Initiative has been implemented by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina. This initiative focuses on regional assignments of federal prosecutors working with law enforcement and District Attorney’s Offices to reduce the violent crime rate, drug trafficking, and crimes against law enforcement.
The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF) conducted the investigation of this case. Assistant United States Attorneys Chad Rhoades and Erin Blondel handled the prosecution of this case for the government.
