ALBANY, NEW YORK – Alexander MacFayden, a 60-year-old Canadian national, has been meted out a 188-month sentence in federal prison, to be followed by 15 years of supervised release, for the attempted online enticement of a minor and possession of child pornography.
This harsh judgment follows MacFayden’s admission of exchanging sexually explicit messages with an individual he believed would allow him to have contact with a 10-year-old relative in Albany. The creep, who traveled from Canada with intent to engage in sexual acts with the girl, was nabbed by law enforcement shortly after his arrival.
John A. Sarcone III, Acting United States Attorney, decried MacFayden’s actions as ‘depraved,’ emphasizing that the Justice Department is tirelessly working to lock up predators like him who seek to harm children. Craig L. Tremaroli, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Albany Field Office, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the breadth of the FBI’s reach and commitment to child safety.
The investigation was a collaborative effort by the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, including local police departments and state troopers, under the Project Safe Childhood initiative. This nationwide program combats child sexual exploitation, ensuring perpetrators are apprehended and victims are protected.
