GRIMY NEWS: Madera Man Brian Hindman, 49, Faces Gun and Counterfeit Key Charges
Brian Hindman, a resident of Madera, California, was apprehended by law enforcement today on criminal complaints charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing counterfeit U.S. Postal Service keys. According to U.S. Attorney Eric Grant’s announcement, the arrest stems from an investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, aided by the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.
The charges against Hindman are severe, with court records detailing his July 25, 2025, apprehension for a burglary warrant while in possession of a loaded 9mm Ruger pistol. The firearm was illegal due to Hindman’s numerous prior felony convictions that landed him over four years in state prison.
Furthermore, police discovered six counterfeit U.S. Postal Service keys and several driver’s licenses and debit cards bearing other people’s names in Hindman’s possession, indicating a sophisticated attempt at mail theft. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Barton is handling the prosecution of this case.
If convicted, Hindman faces up to 15 years in prison for the gun charge and an additional 10 years for the counterfeit key possession. A fine of $250,000 also looms over him. The final sentence will be determined by the court considering various factors under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
As with all criminal cases, Hindman is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
