Carjackings on the Rise: Madison County Man Indicted for Federal Offenses
A 20-year-old Jackson, Tennessee man has been indicted for the federal offenses of carjacking and brandishing a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. Delvion ‘DJ’ Beard, of Jackson, Tennessee, was charged with taking a vehicle from two victims at a local gas station in Bolivar, Tennessee on November 9, 2020.
According to the indictment, Beard, along with accomplices Quadarius Greer, 19, and Bryson Townsley, 19, forced the victims to hand over their Audi A4. If convicted, Beard faces up to 15 years imprisonment for the carjacking offense, followed by three years supervised release.
However, if convicted of using a firearm during a crime of violence offense, Beard will face an additional mandatory minimum consecutive sentence of 7 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and five years’ supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Marshals Service, Bolivar Police Department, Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and the Jackson Police Department all contributed to the investigation.
Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph C. Murphy Jr. announced the indictment, stating that several law enforcement agencies worked together to bring the defendants to justice. City of Bolivar Police Chief Michael Jones thanked his team and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for taking on the case.
The charges and allegations contained in the indictment are merely accusations, and the defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. The case is being prosecuted by Trial Attorneys Sam Loeiro and Jared Hernandez with the Organized Crime and Gang Unit Section, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Hillary L. Parham of the Western District of Tennessee.
