BOSTON, MA – Bethany Abigail Terrill, 37, of Malden, Massachusetts, is facing federal charges after allegedly threatening to kill federal agents while they were carrying out lawful immigration enforcement duties. The incident, a volatile mix of obstruction and direct threats, unfolded outside Malden District Court, according to a criminal complaint unsealed today.
Terrill has been charged with threatening a United States official, a serious offense carrying a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. She is scheduled to make her initial appearance in federal court in Boston this afternoon at 1:30 pm. The U.S. Attorney’s Office, led by Leah B. Foley, and the FBI, under Special Agent in Charge Ted E. Docks, are prosecuting the case.
The complaint details a chaotic scene where Terrill allegedly physically inserted herself between agents and individuals being administratively arrested by Immigration Enforcement and Removal Operations. Agents were reportedly attempting to effect the arrests when Terrill began verbally abusing them, pushing through their lines to film the operation on her mobile phone. She allegedly screamed phrases like “ICE is here, ICE is here,” “You guys are monsters, this is insane,” and repeatedly demanded the agents’ names, all while actively interfering with the lawful arrest. Despite repeated requests to “back up,” Terrill allegedly continued to push past the identifiable federal officers.
The situation escalated dramatically when Terrill allegedly made a chilling, direct threat. According to the charging documents, she yelled, “Charlie Kirk died, and we love it… We’re coming for you, gonna kill you.” This wasn’t just angry rhetoric; the incident was captured on both the agents’ body-worn cameras and, allegedly, on Terrill’s own phone, providing potential evidence of her intent. Agents repeatedly warned Terrill she could be arrested if she didn’t comply, but she allegedly persisted in her obstruction.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Luke A. Goldworm, of the Major Crimes Unit, is leading the prosecution. Federal authorities are taking these threats extremely seriously, emphasizing the importance of protecting those who enforce federal law. The complaint stresses that these are allegations at this stage, and Terrill is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
Grimy Times will continue to follow this case as it develops, providing updates on the legal proceedings and any further details that emerge. The incident raises questions about the increasing hostility directed towards federal agents in the line of duty and the potential for such confrontations to escalate into violence. This is a developing story.
