Kacey Hicks, Cocaine and Marijuana Trafficking, North Carolina 2024

A 34-year-old man from Henderson, North Carolina has been found guilty of narcotics and firearm charges, following a two-day trial in federal court.

Kacey Hicks, of Henderson, was convicted of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana, as well as maintaining a dwelling for drug distribution.

The investigation that led to Hicks’ conviction began with a complaint about drug activity in the Flint Hill neighborhood of Henderson. Law enforcement conducted a search of the premises, where Hicks was found hiding under a bed in close proximity to a firearm.

Officers seized a distributable quantity of cocaine, marijuana, ammunition, two additional firearms, drug paraphernalia, and US currency during the search.

Hicks also faces charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The jury found Hicks guilty on all counts, and he now faces a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment, followed by no less than 3 years of supervised release on the drug counts. On the firearm count, he faces a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment, followed by no more than 3 years of supervised release.

The case was brought as part of the Take Back North Carolina Initiative, which aims to reduce violent crime rates and drug trafficking in the region. The investigation was conducted by the Henderson Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Assistant United States Attorneys Thomas Crosby and Laura Howard handled the prosecution of the case.

Hicks’ conviction is a significant blow to the drug trade in Henderson, and serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in narcotics and firearm offenses.
