GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Marc Anthony Malone, 35, of Georgia, has been sentenced to eight months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for his brazen interference with an Air Tran flight crew, announced United States Attorney David J. Hickton.
The court’s gavel came down on Malone after a harrowing incident onboard Air Tran Flight 120 from Atlanta to Pittsburgh on October 10, 2012. Malone’s antics forced the crew into emergency measures, leaving passengers and crew alike in fear for their safety.
According to information presented during the trial, Malone began acting erratically halfway through the flight, asking bewildering questions and refusing to remain seated. His aggression escalated when he demanded to disembark in Pittsburgh, threatening the crew with violent outbursts as they attempted to maintain order. The climax of the incident occurred when Malone physically fought with a flight attendant before being subdued by two crew members and five passengers.
During his restraint, Malone showed no remorse, instead vowing revenge against those who stopped him from reaching the front of the plane. His behavior continued until the plane landed, leaving the crew unable to perform their duties as they were supposed to do.
