Harrington Alonzo, Assault on Law Enforcement, New Mexico 2019

Harrington Alonzo, 34, of Pinehill, New Mexico, has pleaded guilty to a violent crime in Indian Country, leaving him to face sentencing for his actions.

According to court documents, on April 24, 2019, Alonzo assaulted a Navajo Nation police officer by shooting at them with a semiautomatic handgun. The officer was responding to a domestic dispute between Alonzo and his girlfriend at the time.

As an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation where this crime occurred, Alonzo’s actions are all the more egregious. The shooting incident occurred in Cibola County, and Alonzo’s guilty plea is a significant step towards bringing justice to the victims and their families.
