WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – A Hancock County man has been handed a hefty sentence for his role in a disturbing crime. Ryan Bobby Schnettler, 25, of Weirton, West Virginia, received an 87-month prison sentence for possession of child pornography, United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced.
Schnettler was initially discovered in possession of child pornography in October 2015 in Hancock County, West Virginia. The West Virginia State Police launched an investigation into the matter, and Schnettler eventually pled guilty in February 2015 to one count of “Possession of Child Pornography.”
The case against Schnettler was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Vogrin on behalf of the government. Senior U.S. District Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr. presided over the case.
