Christopher Robert Sueiro, Child Pornography, Virginia 2023

Virginia man sentenced to 20 years for downloading and soliciting child pornography.

A Fairfax man has been handed a 20-year prison sentence for his role in a child pornography ring. Christopher Robert Sueiro, 40, of Fairfax, was found guilty of downloading images and videos depicting children as young as 4 years old being sexually abused, and for utilizing the Dark Net to solicit and promote child pornography.

According to court documents, Sueiro used a peer-to-peer network to download child sexual abuse material (CSAM) over a period of at least four years. He amassed thousands of images and videos, and was also a member of a Dark Net hidden service website dedicated to trafficking in CSAM depicting preteen boys.

Sueiro made posts promoting and soliciting CSAM images and videos and attempted to receive CSAM from other users of the website. His electronic devices included documents describing graphic sexual abuse of children and a guide to how to find child pornography online.

The case against Sueiro first came to light when investigators searched his digital devices during an unrelated online threats investigation. Assistant Attorney General Kenneth A. Polite Jr. hailed the sentence as a step in achieving justice for the victims and a warning to other offenders.

U.S. Attorney Raj Parekh for the Eastern District of Virginia said that the trafficking of child pornography is egregious and repugnant behavior that will be met with serious consequences. Special Agent in Charge Raymond Villanueva of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Washington, D.C. added that each time someone downloads child pornography, the child is victimized all over again.

The case was investigated by HSI and the City of Fairfax Police Department, with significant assistance from the High Technology Investigative Unit (HTIU) of the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS). CEOS Trial Attorney James E. Burke IV and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathaniel Smith III prosecuted the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
