Man Sentenced for Robbery and Brandishing Firearm
A 39-year-old St. Louis man, Kevin Moore, has been sentenced to 141 months in prison for robbery and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of that robbery. On August 28, 2019, Moore entered Behrmann’s Tavern in the 3100 block of Meramec Street and announced a robbery.
Moore ordered five customers and one employee to the ground and held them at gunpoint with a semi-automatic rifle. One of the customers refused to get on the ground, prompting Moore to push the barrel of his rifle into the side of the customer’s ribcage and try to take his property.
Moore then put the barrel of his rifle into the back of another customer and robbed that customer of his money. He continued his robbery spree by pointing his semi-automatic, assault rifle at the other patrons and commandeering their valuables, including their money and other items.
Moore also stole money from the cash register after forcing an employee to open the register. He then fled the tavern, but was later apprehended by the police. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police investigated this case. Assistant United States Attorney Jason Dunkel is handling this matter.
Immediately after pleading guilty to the crimes, Moore was sentenced to a 141-month term of imprisonment. Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh, Jr. accepted the plea in the United States District Court.
Moore’s actions on that day had a significant impact on the victims, who were left shaken and traumatized by the experience. The sentence handed down by Judge Limbaugh is a testament to the severity of the crime and the need for accountability.
The case serves as a reminder of the dangers of carrying and using firearms in the commission of a crime. Moore’s sentence is a warning to anyone who would consider committing similar crimes in the future.
