Minneapolis Man Sentenced to 110 Months for Possessing Stolen Firearm
A Minneapolis man has been sentenced to 110 months in prison for possessing a stolen firearm, according to court documents.
Antonio Tedell Hammonds-Ford, 29, was caught on surveillance footage walking around a parking lot on August 19, 2019, wearing a replica bullet proof vest and carrying a loaded Norinco 9mm semiautomatic pistol.
When law enforcement approached, Hammonds-Ford attempted to pull the handgun from his waistband and drop it on the ground before trying to walk away. The firearm was confirmed to be stolen, and Hammonds-Ford admitted to knowing it was.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Minneapolis Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Harry M. Jacobs.
U.S. District Judge Wilhelmina M. Wright handed down the sentence, which includes three years of supervised release following Hammonds-Ford’s prison term.
Acting U.S. Attorney W. Anders Folk for the District of Minnesota announced the sentence, which is the result of a tip received by law enforcement on the day of the incident.
Antonio Tedell Hammonds-Ford will now face time behind bars for his actions, a consequence of his decision to possess a stolen firearm.
