Man Sentenced to 46 Months for Pointing Gun
Council Bluffs, IA – Kevin Lee Longo, a 46-year-old man from Pottawattamie County, was sentenced to 46 months in prison for pointing a gun at someone on September 20, 2018.
According to court documents, Longo had an exchange with a victim regarding a former girlfriend, after which he pulled out a firearm and threatened the victim. The Council Bluffs Police responded to the scene and conducted a search of Longo’s vehicle, finding a pellet gun, marijuana, methamphetamine, crushed pills, pipes, a scale, bb’s, CO2 cartridges, and .380 ammunition.
A subsequent search of Longo’s property yielded a loaded black and silver Walther PK380 firearm that he had hidden in a shed.
Longo’s case was investigated by the Council Bluffs Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer for everyone.
United States Attorney Marc Krickbaum announced the sentencing on July 31, 2019, and praised the law enforcement agencies involved in the case. Longo will also serve a term of supervised release for three years after his prison sentence is completed.
The sentencing of Kevin Lee Longo serves as a reminder of the consequences of violent crime and the importance of community partnerships in keeping neighborhoods safe.
