South Bend Man Found Guilty of Reentry of Removed Alien
SOUTH BEND – In a shocking turn of events, Manuel De Jesus Tinoco-Calderon, 36 years old, of Mexico and a resident of South Bend, Indiana, was sentenced to time served after pleading guilty to felony reentry of removed alien, announced United States Attorney Adam L. Mildred.
Tinoco-Calderon was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Cristal C. Brisco on an unspecified date, after being in custody since August 15, 2025. This marked the end of a long and drawn-out case that had been ongoing for months.
According to documents in the case, Tinoco-Calderon was previously removed from the United States in September of 2007. His decision to return to the country without proper documentation led to the charges leveled against him.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement with assistance from the Notre Dame Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Luke N. Reilander.
In a statement, U.S. Attorney Adam L. Mildred said, ‘We will continue to work tirelessly to protect our communities from individuals who choose to disregard our laws and reenter the country illegally.’
