A convicted felon from Midland, Texas, has been sentenced to 87 months in federal prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Manuel Trevino Padilla, 43, was previously convicted of trafficking methamphetamine and was on federal supervised release when he was arrested.
On August 19, 2025, federal, state, and local law enforcement officers executed a state narcotics search warrant at Padilla’s home, where he attempted to flee but was detained.
The search resulted in the discovery of two loaded firearms: a semi-automatic handgun and a revolver.
Padilla was charged in a one-count indictment on August 27, 2025, and pleaded guilty on October 16, 2025.
U.S. District Court Judge David Counts sentenced Padilla to 87 months in prison on January 20, 2026.

ICE Homeland Security Investigations, the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigative Division, and the Midland County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Haywood prosecuted the case.
