A 44-year-old Arkansas man has been sentenced to 13 years and 4 months in federal prison for his role in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in Douglas County, Missouri.
Marcelino Sauseda Jr was sentenced on Tuesday, November 28, by U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Bough after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.
According to court documents, Sauseda was in possession of a loaded Rossi firearm and methamphetamine at the time of his arrest on October 10, 2020. The methamphetamine weighing 196 grams was found next to the back porch of a cabin at the Twin Bridges Campground, where Sauseda was staying as a fugitive with active Arkansas warrants.
A total of $24,830 in cash, which Sauseda admitted were proceeds of illegal drug sales, was also found under the back porch of the cabin. The firearm was discovered in an air vent.
Sauseda had previously been incarcerated for robbery, residential burglary, and theft of property related to robbing another person at gunpoint with an SKS rifle. He also has a prior felony conviction for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Carney. It was investigated by the Howell County, Missouri, Sheriff’s Office, the Douglas County, Missouri, Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The government also ordered Sauseda to forfeit the $24,830 in drug-trafficking proceeds to the government as part of the sentence.
