Marchello Dsaun McCain, 30, Convicted of Conspiracy to Distribute Fentanyl in San Diego, CA

Marchello Dsaun McCain, 30, of San Diego, CA, was convicted of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, a highly addictive opioid, in the Southern District of California Court.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced that McCain was found guilty of conspiring to distribute fentanyl, a Schedule II controlled substance, from 2014 to 2015. The investigation revealed that McCain and his co-conspirators distributed large quantities of fentanyl to users in the San Diego area, resulting in numerous overdoses and deaths.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the San Diego Police Department. U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California prosecuted the case.

On February 27, 2015, a grand jury indicted McCain for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl. McCain was arrested and taken into custody. He was represented by attorneys Shane P. Harrigan and Caroline Pineda Han.

On September 14, 2016, McCain pleaded guilty to the charges. He was sentenced to 60 months in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release. McCain was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,000 and a special assessment of $100.
