Man Sentenced to 17 Years for Fatal Shooting

A 32-year-old man from Maricopa, Arizona, has been sentenced to nearly 17 years in prison for his role in a fatal shooting on the Gila River Indian Community.

Brent Edwin Justin, an enrolled member of the Gila River Indian Community, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with the death of the victim, who was shot multiple times on March 1, 2020.

According to prosecutors, Justin shot the victim multiple times on the Gila River Indian Community, resulting in the victim’s death.

The Gila River Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducted the investigation in this case.

Raynette Logan, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix, handled the prosecution.

Justin was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John J. Tuchi to 17 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

The case number is CR-20-00557-PHX-JJT, and the release number is 2021-041_Justin.
