MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – In a shocking turn of events, Marius Brown, 40, of Wheeling, West Virginia, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a firearm charge.
The charges stem from a 2017 incident in Ohio County where Brown, having previously been convicted of a felony, was found in possession of a .40 pistol.
A bench trial held in February 2020 resulted in Brown being found guilty of one count of ‘Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.’
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen L. Vogrin prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducting the investigation.
U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided over the case.
Brown’s sentence of 120 months is a significant blow to those who have known him, and serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of committing a crime with a firearm.
As the community comes to terms with the verdict, Grimy Times will continue to follow this story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
This case serves as a warning to those who would consider committing a crime with a firearm: the consequences are severe, and the sentence can be just as harsh.
