New Orleans Man Guilty of Sending Obscene Videos to Minor

A disturbing case of online exploitation has come to light in New Orleans, Louisiana. On May 1, 2025, Mark Brooks, a 35-year-old man, made contact with an FBI online covert employee who was posing as a 15-year-old female named ‘Ava.’

Brooks, who also goes by the alias ‘Baby Nu,’ engaged in a sexually charged text-based conversation with ‘Ava,’ despite being informed of her true age. He proceeded to send multiple explicit videos, including footage of himself masturbating at work and in his residence.

As the investigation unfolded, Brooks repeatedly discussed meeting ‘Ava’ in person to engage in sexual acts. He even proposed a meeting at a restaurant near his residence, which was promptly shut down by law enforcement authorities as he walked out of his home.

Mark Brooks faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years, up to 3 years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. He may also be required to register as a sex offender.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Louisiana State Police in investigating this matter.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jordan Ginsberg, Chief of the Public Integrity Unit, is leading the prosecution. Mark Brooks is currently awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for February 12, 2026, at 1:30 pm.

This disturbing case highlights the ever-present threat of online predators and the importance of vigilance in protecting our children from exploitation.
