Marquis Brown, Narcotics Trafficking and Gun Laws, Pennsylvania 2017

A Duquesne man has been sentenced to over 5 years in prison for violating federal narcotics and gun laws, authorities announced today. Marquis Brown, 33, was handed a 66-month prison term by United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon following his conviction for narcotics trafficking and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.

The charges stem from information presented to the court, which stated that in October 2017, Brown possessed with intent to distribute quantities of heroin and fentanyl analogues. He also possessed a .40 caliber Taurus pistol in furtherance of his drug-trafficking activities.

Brown’s conviction was secured by Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey R. Bengel on behalf of the government. Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation – Western District of Pennsylvania Opioid Task Force for their investigation into the case.

The Western District of Pennsylvania Opioid Task Force is comprised of FBI Special Agents and state and local Task Force Officers, including officers from the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Allegheny County Sheriff’s Department, Allegheny County Police, Port Authority Police, Munhall Police Department, West Mifflin Police Department, and Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.

Brown’s prison term will be followed by three years of supervised release. His crime was committed in the Western District of Pennsylvania, precisely in Duquesne, on October 2017.
