Rochester Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison for Drug and Gun Charges
A 25-year-old Rochester man was sentenced to 25 years in prison and 10 years supervised release for his role in a large and long-term drug distribution conspiracy.
Marquis McMillian, of Rochester, NY, was convicted of distributing over 280 grams of crack cocaine in the Rochester area, as well as possessing firearms during his drug distribution activities and using violence and the threat of violence during his drug dealing.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Everado A. Rodriguez, McMillian participated in the conspiracy, which was based in Rochester and headed by co-defendant Tyshawn Simmons. Simmons was previously convicted of committing murder in furtherance of the drug distribution conspiracy.
The investigation into McMillian’s activities was led by the Rochester Police Department, under the direction of Chief Michael Ciminelli, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge James J. Hunt, New York Field Division.
U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced McMillian’s sentencing, which was handed down by U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa.
In a related prosecution, McMillian was previously convicted in state court following a jury trial of assault and attempted murder in connection with the shooting of two men in June of 2012.
