Heroin Dealer Sentenced to 17 Years
Christopher Wigfall, a 38-year-old Randallstown, Maryland man, has been sentenced to 210 months incarceration for selling heroin in Berkeley County, West Virginia, according to U.S. Attorney Bill Powell.
A jury found Wigfall, also known as “Frank,” guilty of two counts of “Distribution of Heroin,” and one count of “Possession with the Intent to Distribute Heroin” in February 2018. The crime occurred in December 2014.
Wigfall’s sentence is a direct result of his actions, said Powell. "This sentence should send a clear message. We will not tolerate poison being sold to our neighbors. Heroin distribution will be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible. The sentence imposed by the court sends a very strong message. Our work will continue," Powell stated.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Z. Krasinski and Special Assistant U. S. Attorney Elizabeth D. Grant, also with the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office, prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated.
Chief U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh presided over the case. Wigfall’s conviction serves as a warning to those involved in the heroin trade: the consequences of such actions will be severe and long-lasting.
The sentencing of Christopher Wigfall is a significant victory in the fight against heroin distribution in the Eastern Panhandle. It is a clear indication that law enforcement and prosecutors will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.
Wigfall’s sentence is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the investigators, prosecutors, and law enforcement agencies involved in the case. Their tireless efforts have made a significant impact in the community and will undoubtedly serve as a deterrent to others.
