Kendall Fair, Sale of Crack and Fentanyl, Connecticut 2019

A Hartford man has admitted to selling crack cocaine and fentanyl in a case that involves law enforcement agencies from across the state. Kendall Fair, 20, of Hartford, pleaded guilty to distributing crack cocaine, an offense that carries a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years.

According to the FBI’s Northern Connecticut Gang Task Force, Fair sold crack and fentanyl to undercover agents on multiple occasions between August and September 2019. The task force, which includes members of the Hartford Police Department, East Hartford Police Department, Connecticut State Police and Connecticut Department of Correction, launched an investigation targeting gang-related drug distribution and associated violence in north Hartford in July 2019.

Between August and September 2019, investigators made three controlled purchases of crack and two controlled purchases of crack and fentanyl from Fair. On September 13, 2019, investigators arrested Fair at his residence, where they seized approximately 15 grams of crack, a quantity of cocaine, and six bags of fentanyl.

Fair pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of cocaine base (‘crack’). He has been detained since his arrest and is scheduled to be sentenced on July 21, 2020. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey M. Stone.

The court proceeding occurred via videoconference, pursuant to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). This measure allowed the court to proceed with the case while minimizing the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

The investigation was led by the FBI’s Northern Connecticut Gang Task Force, in conjunction with the DEA and Hartford Police Department. The task force’s efforts have been instrumental in reducing gang-related violence and drug distribution in Hartford and surrounding areas.
