NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – Jahbrell PRICE, 25, of Marrero, Louisiana, has confessed to federal crimes that landed him in the crosshairs of both drug and weapons charges. Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced PRICE’s guilty plea on August 21, 2025, before United States District Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown. This isn’t just about a gun; it’s about a dangerous combination of narcotics and firepower hitting the streets of Jefferson Parish.
PRICE pleaded guilty to a two-count indictment. Count 1 accuses him of possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance, violating Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(3). The second, and arguably more damning, charge – Count 2 – centers on possession of a machine gun, a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(o) and 924(a)(2). Sentencing is scheduled for December 4, 2025, and PRICE is facing a hefty penalty for his actions.
The bust went down on January 7, 2024, when Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives tracked PRICE to a motel in the 6700 block of Westbank Expressway, Marrero. They were initially there to serve an outstanding Orleans Parish arrest warrant. But the warrant was just the opening act. A subsequent search of PRICE’s room revealed a disturbing cache: twenty (20) bottles of promethazine (totaling 9,460 ml), $1,375.00 in cash, and a Glock Model 45 nine-millimeter handgun. It wasn’t just the handgun that raised alarms; it was the illegal machine gun conversion device attached to it, turning a standard pistol into a far more lethal weapon.
The potential consequences for PRICE are significant. For Count One, he’s looking at up to 1 year in prison, a fine of up to $100,000, and a $50 mandatory special assessment fee. But the machine gun charge carries far heavier weight: up to 10 years imprisonment, a potential fine of up to $250,000, and up to 3 years of supervised release, plus another $100 mandatory special assessment fee. This is a clear message that illegal firearm modifications won’t be tolerated.
Federal officials are framing this case within the broader context of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a nationwide initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence. Launched in 2021, PSN focuses on fostering community trust, supporting local organizations, and strategically targeting enforcement efforts. This case, officials say, exemplifies the program’s commitment to making neighborhoods safer.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended the work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms in bringing this case to fruition. The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Mary Katherine Kaufman of the General Crimes Unit. While the legal process continues, the apprehension of PRICE and the seizure of his illegal weapons and drugs represent a small victory in the ongoing battle against violent crime in the New Orleans area.
