An East St. Louis man has been handed a lengthy prison sentence for his role in a crack cocaine offense.
Edward A. Banks, 42, of East St. Louis, Illinois, was sentenced to 130 months in federal prison on October 17, 2014, for possession of crack cocaine with intent to deliver.
Banks will also serve five years of supervised release following his release from imprisonment.
The conviction stems from a guilty plea entered by Banks on July 9, 2014.
This case was investigated by the Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois (MEGSI) as part of its Operation Wild Wild East.
Assistant United States Attorney Laura Reppert and Special Assistant United States Attorney Neal Hong prosecuted the case.
Banks will serve his prison sentence for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a serious offense that can have devastating consequences for communities.
The case is a reminder of the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking in our region and the importance of continued law enforcement efforts to combat this threat.
