Cocaine Distribution Lands Martinsburg Man Behind Bars
Michael Jacque Severe, 34, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, was sentenced to 71 months in prison for distributing cocaine, United States Attorney Bill Powell announced.
According to court records, Severe conspired with others to distribute crack cocaine in Berkeley County from April 2015 to February 2017. Severe, a resident of Martinsburg, pleaded guilty to one count of "Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine Base" in February 2018.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara K. Omps-Botteicher handled the case on behalf of the government. The Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated the case.
Chief U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh presided over the case. The sentence of 71 months is a stern reminder of the consequences of distributing cocaine in our community.
Severe’s actions demonstrate a blatant disregard for the well-being of his community and the safety of its residents. His sentence should serve as a warning to others who would engage in similar behavior.
As a society, we must remain vigilant in our efforts to combat the scourge of cocaine distribution. We must support our law enforcement agencies and work together to ensure that those who would harm our communities are held accountable for their actions.
