Marvin Alexander Portillo, Fentanyl Trafficking, Texas 2026

A Dallas man, Marvin Alexander Portillo, 29, has been sentenced to over 12 years in federal prison for his role in trafficking fentanyl in the Eastern District of Texas, according to U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.

Portillo pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl and was sentenced to 151 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant, III on March 31, 2026.

According to information presented in court, in June 2023, Portillo was identified during a drug trafficking investigation involving the distribution of fentanyl-laced pills in the Eastern District of Texas. Portillo admitted to being involved in a conspiracy responsible for distributing at least 400 grams of a substance containing fentanyl in the Eastern District of Texas.

This case is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative established by Executive Order 14159, Protecting the American People Against Invasion. The HSTF is a whole-of-government partnership dedicated to eliminating criminal cartels, foreign gangs, transnational criminal organizations, and human smuggling and trafficking rings operating in the United States and abroad.

The HSTF places special emphasis on investigating and prosecuting those engaged in child trafficking or other crimes involving children. This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Johnson.

Portillo’s sentence marks a significant blow to the fentanyl trafficking ring operating in the Eastern District of Texas. The Homeland Security Task Force’s efforts to combat fentanyl trafficking will continue to be a priority in the coming years.
