Prattville Woman Sentenced for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
Mary Elizabeth Griffin Wilson, a 40-year-old woman from Prattville, Alabama, has been sentenced to 60 months in prison for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, announced Acting United States Attorney Sandra J. Stewart.
On July 15, 2021, Wilson pleaded guilty to the crime, and as a result, she will serve three years of supervised release following her sentence. There is no parole in the federal system.
The incident occurred on March 1, 2019, when Wilson was stopped by law enforcement in Autauga County for a traffic violation. Deputies observed movements from Wilson indicating she was trying to conceal something from them, and upon searching her vehicle, they found methamphetamine in the seat where she had been sitting.
After being taken into custody, Wilson told officers that she had more methamphetamine in her pants pockets, and deputies also discovered approximately $20,000 in cash in her purse.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Kevin Davidson prosecuted the case.
Wilson’s sentence serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in illicit activities, and authorities will continue to crack down on those who seek to distribute dangerous substances. The efforts of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors are crucial in keeping communities safe and preventing the spread of illicit substances.
The case is a testament to the dedication and hard work of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors in protecting the public and upholding the law. Wilson’s sentence is a result of her actions, and she will now face the consequences of her choices.
