MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has delivered a grim verdict against Mason Anthony Wilson, 28, of Gore. Wilson has been found guilty by a federal jury of Child Abuse and Child Neglect in Indian Country.
The trial, which commenced on Monday, June 3, 2024, and concluded the following day, saw evidence that Wilson caused grave injuries to a 2-month-old infant, including 10 fractured bones and numerous bruises. The child was left without medical attention during this neglectful period.
This harrowing crime occurred within Muskogee County, situated on the Cherokee Nation Reservation of Oklahoma. The investigation leading to Wilson’s conviction was a collaborative effort between the Muskogee Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Judge Kea W. Riggs, sitting by assignment in the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, oversaw the trial and has ordered a presentence report be completed before scheduling sentencing. Wilson remains in the custody of the United States Marshal until that time.
Assistant United States Attorneys Sarah McAmis and Jessica Bove prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
This conviction underscores the severe consequences faced by those who commit heinous acts against children, particularly within the Indian Country jurisdiction. The justice system has delivered a strong message of accountability for Wilson’s actions.
