Massachusetts Narcotics Ring: Ten Busted in Oxycodone and Heroin Plot

Boston – A sprawling drug trafficking ring that operated across state lines has been dismantled, as ten men were arrested today for their roles in the illegal distribution of oxycodone and heroin.

The suspects, Jesus Gonzalez, 22; Jenssi Astacio, 30; Gorky Gonzalez, 24; Craig Drummond, 25; Darren Infante, 26; Moses Rodriguez, 29; George Noukas, 27; Juan Reyes, 29; Johnny Urena, 29; and Jeffrey Brathwaite, 32, are charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute large quantities of the deadly drugs.

The investigation, spanning three years, revealed that the ring transported substantial amounts of oxycodone from Miami, Florida, to Massachusetts for distribution in the Boston area. Proceeds were then laundered and returned to Florida. The group also allegedly distributed heroin and fentanyl in the greater Boston region.

Each defendant faces a daunting array of charges, including conspiracy to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin or 40 grams or more of fentanyl, which carries a minimum mandatory sentence of five years and up to 40 years in prison. The oxycodone charge could result in no more than 20 years behind bars.

The operation was dismantled through a collaborative effort between federal agencies including the DEA, IRS, USPS, US Marshals, ATF, and the Massachusetts State Police, along with various local law enforcement departments. Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen Beausey is handling the prosecution.

Despite the serious charges, all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
