Matthew Bald, Child Pornography, New York 2020

A convicted sex offender who possessed more than 600 images of child pornography has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, said U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross.

Mattew Bald, 42, of Lockport, NY, was convicted of possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor by a person having a prior conviction for sexual abuse, aggravated sexual abuse, or abusive sexual contact involving a minor or ward.

The sentencing comes after an investigation by Homeland Security investigations, the New York State Police, the Niagara County Probation Department, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Bald was convicted of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree in November 2011 in Niagara County Court and sentenced to six months in prison and 10 years’ probation.

However, on December 15, 2020, while still on probation, Bald possessed more than 600 images of child pornography on a laptop computer, some of which depicted prepubescent minors.

U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. handed down the 120-month prison sentence.

Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Rudroff said that the investigation revealed more than 600 images of child pornography on Bald’s laptop, including those of prepubescent minors.
