East Stroudsburg Man Indicted for Heroin Trafficking

SCRANTON, Pennsylvania – Maurice Garvin, a 27-year-old man from East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, has been indicted on drug trafficking charges. According to the indictment, Garvin distributed and possessed with the intent to distribute heroin on two occasions and cocaine on one occasion in April 2016, in Monroe County, Pennsylvania.

Garvin allegedly committed these offenses within 1,000 feet of a playground, sparking concerns about the safety of local communities. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Stroud Area Regional Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean A. Camoni is prosecuting the case, which is part of a district-wide initiative to combat the nationwide epidemic of heroin use and distribution. The Heroin Initiative targets heroin traffickers operating in the Middle District of Pennsylvania and is a coordinated effort among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
