An Alabama man has admitted to robbing five banks across three states in a four-month spree.
Maxwell Hayslip, 27, pleaded guilty to five bank robberies by intimidation in federal court in Lexington, Kentucky. According to the charges, Hayslip robbed banks in Lexington, Kentucky; Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Nashville, Tennessee; Bowling Green, Kentucky; and Carrollton, Georgia between August 7 and November 13, 2018.
Hayslip admitted to stealing over $14,000 and agreed to pay that total amount back in restitution. The robberies took place in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia.
Local law enforcement agencies in each jurisdiction investigated Hayslip, with the federal investigation directed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Hayslip is scheduled to be sentenced on February 21, 2020, at 11 a.m. before Chief Judge Reeves in federal court in Lexington.
Maxwell Hayslip faces up to 100 years in prison, as well as a maximum fine of $1.25 million, for the five robberies.
Hayslip was captured soon after the Lexington robbery in Alabama.
Robert M. Duncan, Jr., United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and James Robert Brown, Jr., Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, jointly announced the convictions.
