Millbourne Borough Official Sentenced for Election Fraud
PHILADELPHIA – MD Nurul Hasan, 48, of Millbourne, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to 36 months in prison, one year of supervised release, and a $3,300 special assessment for election fraud offenses.
Hasan, the vice president of the Millbourne Borough Council, pleaded guilty in April to all 33 charges against him — one count of conspiracy, 16 counts of giving false information in registering to vote, and 16 counts of fraudulent voter registration.
The crimes were committed in 2021, as set forth in court filings, in Millbourne held elections for mayor, three seats on its borough council, and tax collector. Hasan entered the majority party’s primary election for mayor, but was defeated in the primary by a vote count of approximately 138 to 120.
Hasan, along with co-conspirators MD Rafikul Islam and MD Munsur Ali, conspired and agreed to steal the 2021 general election for Mayor of Millbourne for Hasan through a multi-step process, which included obtaining personal identification information of non-Millbourne residents, using the information to access the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s online voter registration (PAOVR) website, and fraudulently casting write-in votes for Hasan to be mayor.
The scheme ultimately failed, and Hasan was sentenced for his role in the conspiracy. Defendant MD Nurul Hasan is currently serving his 36-month prison sentence.
