Local Man Caught in Child Porn Ring
In a disturbing revelation, Eugene Edward Hudome, a 60-year-old Melbourne resident, has pleaded guilty to using a minor to produce images of child pornography. The egregious crime has left the community reeling.
According to the plea agreement, Hudome used a camcorder to produce pornographic images of a female minor in 2003. The images were then uploaded to his Microsoft SkyDrive account in 2014, which led to his downfall. Microsoft notified law enforcement, and agents subsequently executed a search warrant at Hudome’s residence, recovering a video, 170 CD/DVDs, and a computer, all containing pornographic images of minor victims.
Hudome’s crimes did not stop there. During an interview with agents, he admitted to producing the pornography of the original female minor victim while she slept in his residence. He further confessed to converting the images from videotape to digital media.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Andrew C. Searle is leading the prosecution.
This heinous crime is part of the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006, aims to combat this scourge. The project marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children.
Hudome faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years, up to 30 years, in federal prison. His sentencing is scheduled for April 2, 2015. The community demands justice for the victims of this despicable crime.
