Newark, N.J. — A Paterson, New Jersey, man known by aliases “Memo” and “Killa,” Reinaldo Rodriguez, 30, has been found guilty of two counts of drug trafficking offenses following a four-day trial in Newark federal court. The jury convicted Rodriguez of conspiracy to distribute at least a kilogram of heroin and possession with intent to distribute the illegal substance.
According to court documents and trial evidence, Rodriguez was involved in a conspiracy spanning from June 2015 to April 20, 2016. He procured heroin from a supplier in Bronx, New York, which was then delivered to street-level dealers in Paterson. The drugs were packaged and marked with various stamps indicating their source.
The investigation included surveillance of Rodriguez, who was caught on tape discussing drug trafficking activities. He also faces mandatory minimum imprisonment of 10 years and life in prison for the conspiracy charge.
U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito acknowledged the efforts of special agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Paterson Police Department, which led to Rodriguez’s conviction. The case was part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), a collaborative effort between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
Senior Trial Counsel Jamie L. Hoxie from the OCDETF/Narcotics Unit and Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Suchorsky from the Organized Crime/Gangs Unit represented the government in this case.
